Bram started as an intern at FV Seleqt in February and has since progressed to become a buyer for products including Bimi, plums, mini vegetables and green beans. How did he find this move, and what makes his job so enjoyable? Read on to find out!
  • A flying start in the fruit and vegetable sector

When Bram started in February, he had no previous work experience in the fruit and vegetable sector. “During my work placement, I mainly helped out with day-to-day tasks and carried out research within the company. It was a great opportunity to learn the trade and get to know lots of colleagues and processes straight away.” In June, he was given the chance to start working as a buyer — a step he looks back on with enthusiasm.

  • A morning full of structure

Bram’s working day starts early. “On Mondays and Thursdays, I’m usually at the office around 06:30; on the other days, around 07:00. My morning routine is quite simple: I get up at 06:00, get ready for the day and then head to the office.”

  • Responsibilities and cooperation

As a buyer, Bram ensures that there are sufficient products available for customers every day. “It’s my job to make sure there’s always enough stock of the products I’m responsible for. That way, we can supply our customers with fresh fruit and vegetables every day.” To this end, he works closely with colleagues from FV seleqt and the supply chain department. “We’re a close-knit team and keep in regular contact with one another.”

In his work, Bram mainly uses SAP, Outlook and Excel. “SAP is our main system for purchasing and stock management. I use Excel to draw up schedules and keep track of things.” But his favourite part of the job isn’t spent behind a computer: “Being in contact with growers and customers is still the best bit.”

  • Team spirit both on and off the pitch

As well as working hard, there’s always time for a bit of fun. “The Friday afternoon drinks are a regular fixture, of course,” says Bram. “Farmhouse has a fairly young team, and in between work we also make time to relax together, such as playing a spot of table football during our break.” Bram also found his work placement a great experience. “From day one, I received good guidance and the chance to learn a lot. That trust gave me the space to grow, and after my placement, I was given the opportunity to make the move to a role as a buyer.” After work, Bram usually heads straight to football. “I train on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, so on many working days I round off the day with some sport.”

In a short space of time, Bram has made an impressive leap from intern to buyer. With his enthusiasm, collaborative spirit and passion for fresh produce, he is already achieving impressive results. That bodes very well for the future!
